Dr. Kai Lindow is an expert in digital technologies with a focus on data and model integration, digital ecosystems, data spaces and AI-driven solutions – always with an eye on business potential. For over a decade, he has been developing systemic approaches to make products and processes more efficient and resource-saving. After studying mechanical engineering in Berlin and Stockholm, he completed his PhD on “Knowledge-based development of sustainable products” at TU Berlin. Following his post-doctoral research at the interface of engineering and computer science, he became head of the Information and Process Control department at Fraunhofer IPK in Berlin, where he now serves as Director of Digital Engineering. He is actively involved in industrial and scientific working groups and a frequent voice on industry and research panels.

At Sirius, he leads the development and application of synchrotron-light techniques for nanomedicine, nanotoxicology, health and environmental research. His strategic work spans the Sibipiruna, Timbó and Hibisco beamlines, integrated into Project Orion and high-containment environments for the safe study of complex biological systems.

He has over ten years of experience in predictive modelling, analytics and data science for pharmaceutical innovation and regulatory toxicology. He is founder and CTO of NanoBusiness and InsilicAll, a Latin American platform combining artificial intelligence and computational methods to accelerate small molecules, protein therapeutics and toxicological safety assessments.

He received his PhD in Theoretical and Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2001, followed by a postdoctorate with Prof. William Jorgensen at Yale University. In 2014 he returned to Brazil to lead the Radical Innovation Unit at Aché Laboratórios Farmacêuticos, focused on the discovery and early development of new chemical entities from synthetic and natural sources, and was promoted to Senior Director, Research, Innovation & New Technologies in 2020. He left Aché to start, with Dr. Miller Freitas and Mr. Stephani Saverio, a Brazilian company called Nintx (Next Innovative Therapeutics), which draws on intra- and interspecies biology and derived natural products to generate novel human therapies. He is the author of some 70 publications and patents.

She started as a scientist at USP, then completed a PhD and postdoc at Uppsala University in Sweden. She quickly realised her strength lay not only in generating knowledge but in connecting it: ideas with action, science with decision-making, people with purpose. That belief led her from academia into industry, first pharma and then scientific information and data. For over a decade she has been with the American Chemical Society, where she currently leads Sales and Government Relations for Latin America, doubling and tripling key contracts, negotiating multimillion-dollar agreements and deepening institutional partnerships across Brazil and the region. She advocates for gender equity in STEM and scientific capacity building in the Global South.

With more than 20 years at the company, he has built a career marked by strategic vision, deep technical knowledge and a central role in the country’s digital transformation. In his current position he leads Equinix’s expansion in Brazil, with billions of reais invested in recent years, consolidating the country as a regional hub for interconnection, cloud and AI. He also sits on the board of the Equinix Foundation and the Advisory Board of Escola da Nuvem, reaffirming his commitment to social responsibility and technology’s positive impact on society.

Senior Manager, AI Infrastructure Managed Services Solution Development at Equinix, where for more than 14 years he has built and operated the services underpinning the company’s global Managed Services operation. He currently leads the technical development of the platforms behind Equinix’s IaaS and Private AI portfolio, including NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD and Dell AI Factory solutions, running across AMER, EMEA and APAC. She works in innovation at Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz, in the Medical Affairs department. Her research covers public health policy, pharmacoeconomics and health technology assessment (HTA), aimed at optimising the use of resources and ensuring the sustainability of Brazil’s public health system. She coordinates the Technical Group of Pharmacists for Racial Equality at CRF/RJ. She has experience as a hospital pharmacist at Hospital Pró-Cardíaco and in primary care within the public health system. Between 2019 and 2024 she was a partner and manager of the independent cultural centre MOTIM, responsible for financial management and strategic planning.

Director of the PUC-Behring Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, with a career spanning artificial intelligence, decision-making and knowledge management. From 2011 to 2025 he was a Senior Research Manager at IBM Research, where he helped create the company’s research lab in Brazil and led AI initiatives in oil and gas, sustainable materials, mining, agriculture and finance. In 2026 he returned to PUC-Rio’s Department of Informatics as a professor. She previously worked as an epidemiologist at Argentina’s Ministry of Health, contributing to national COVID-19 surveillance and vaccine monitoring strategies. Her interest lies in using routinely collected data to tackle infectious diseases and reduce health inequalities. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires, specialised in Epidemiology through the Argentine Ministry of Health’s training programme, and holds an MSc in Public Health for Development from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Today she is an LNLS researcher and coordinates PAINEIRA, the polycrystalline X-ray diffraction beamline at Sirius, Brazil’s fourth-generation synchrotron light source. She leads the LNLS XPD Group, which brings together the PAINEIRA and JATOBÁ teams, the latter being the pair distribution function (PDF) beamline. Her research covers heterogeneous catalysis and materials and devices for energy storage, with an emphasis on structure–function characterisation through in situ and operando experiments using synchrotron techniques.

She has worked at Diamond Light Source and Excelsus Structural Solutions, applying advanced synchrotron, total scattering and PDF techniques. She is Director of the X-ray Analytical Unit at the Bragg Centre for Materials Research, University of Leeds, UK.

Calum Inverarity is a Senior Researcher with the Research & Development team at the Open Data Institute (ODI). His interests lie in the interplay between science, technology and society, and the questions this asks of contemporary governance. He has previously worked with think tanks and research institutes in the UK and Belgium focusing on international security, economic policy and conflict resolution. Some of his previous research has explored decision making within complex systems, the science-policy nexus, illiberal democracy and post-conflict constitutional reform. He received his MSc from the University of Amsterdam and completed his BA at the University of Leeds, having spent periods studying at the University of California, San Diego and the University of Ghana.

Physician, electronic engineer and industrial technical engineer. He holds postgraduate degrees in AI for the Public Sector (AI4Gov) and Health Innovation Management, and researches AI and the EHDS (European Health Data Space) applied to clinical trials. He has more than 25 years of experience leading AI, Big Data and data governance projects. He was head of the Information Systems and Data Analysis Area at Spain’s Ministry of Health and Deputy Director General at the Community of Madrid, where he led health data spaces.

He is Under-Secretary for Innovation and Productive Environments of the State of Rio de Janeiro and has been an Associate Professor at UFF since 1986.
